If we end up with Johnson and Boozer, I'll switch to the anti-Thorn side.

If we're going by rumors and speculation than how does Chris Paul, Emeka Okafor and LeBron James sound?

Chris Paul, Meka, and Bron-Face will cause me to forever praise the man, but if we end up with Wes and Boozer, I'm going to campaign against Cpaw for President of the Thorn Haters Union.

It's not that I don't like Johnson and Boozer as much as this would be an incredible waste of our resources.

I don't know about that. I think Gay and Lee would be worse.

Playing Okafor at PF significantly reduces his effectiveness. His defense, which is his best attribute, suffers away from the paint. Then on offense, he would force Lopez out of the paint.

Chris Paul hasn't been the best PG in the NBA for a couple of seasons. He isn't the player he was when he made Scott look like a decent coach. Rather, he is the guy that Dahntay Jones bullied in the 2009 playoffs and who had trouble beating Nene on the pick and roll. Plus, you have the entire issue of how LBJ would play with CP3 since they both need the ball in their hands the majority of the time to be effective.

While TWill can back up all three perimeter positions, the Nets don't have any bigs that can compare to Sideshow Bob or Hickson. Additionally, the Nets don't have shooters like West and Gibson that can come off the bench and make open looks.

All in all, a worse team than what the Cavs just put on the floor in the playoffs.

What do the Cavs have? The ultimate hustler player in Andy V. and a young banger w/ potential in JJ Hickson. That team is a 20 win team w/o Lebron.

Lebron could use a real PG, yea theres a bit of duplication but its not like theyd be chickens w/ their heads cut off out there. They would find a groove.

Youll get no arguments on the need for shooters, But we dont know what the rest of the roster would look like.

You can play Lebron at the 4 and have Okafor get a lot of his minutes at back up center.

Right, so I can only opine on the rumored group of CP3, Okafor and LBJ.

But you cant say the team is worse than the Cavs when it has a top 2 player, a top 7 player, and a top 15 player. Unless you just think our front office will screw it up.

Bill Simmons is advocating Lopez and #3 for Chris Paul. Ugh.

I wouldnt swap Lopez for Paul straight up right now. If we somehow swoop in and get CP3 itll be more about taking on a bad deal and giving up #3.

And we would have to make sure we can still get Lebron if we did it otherwise whats the point

Even worse, I won't hesitate to throw Prokhorov under the bus, because we know he issued an edict that we must make the playoffs next year, so Thorn is reacting to that and giving him Carlos Loozer and Johnson -- certainly a playoff team...and a perennial 2nd-round-and-out playoff team, at that.

In other words, I will be ready to blame Prokhorov. How bout them apples?

CP3 if healthy is top 7. I have Lopez top 15, say what you want but I think hes still getting better. His 82 X 2 w/ a tanking roster is only a preview.

Only a terrible GM could slow down Lopez

Lopez isn't top 15 in terms of quality of player, but he is in terms of trade value.

Part the first (not sure if this was linked in another thread, but I'm sure you've all seen it):

Dave D wrote:DD: Why will Rod Thorn’s contract be for, two years or three years? Who takes his place after that?
Tully

Tully: Thorn’s contract may be for zero years, if that’s his choice, and he might be leaning that way right now. The worst-kept secret in the organization (and around the league) is that The Boss is contemplating retirement as soon as he gets through the draft and free agency, for about a dozen little reasons that we won’t get into – aside for the fact that his family would like to see him again. This is why he’s been dodging every contract question put to him over the last month -- the last time we brought it up he would only say, “This isn’t the time to bring it up – there’s too much going on.” The uncertainty has everyone in basketball ops a little nervous, because he’s their lifeboat between this management group and the next one. In the past week, Boss-watchers say he’s a little more upbeat about how the offseason is going, and gives his old signals that he’s excited about planning long-term stuff. But signing that contract? It’s probably no better than 50-50 right now, they say. As for who takes his place, it’s moot – there are a lot of excellent executives out there, but Thorn is the franchise, and he’s irreplaceable.

Part the second:

Pritchard and his staff remain in the driver's seat right now, despite a flurry of signs that their jobs are in jeopardy. Pritchard has been one of the most successful GMs in the league over the past several years, especially when it comes to the draft. However, sources have indicated that owner Paul Allen's advisers have been unhappy with his job performance and are looking outside the organization for possible replacements. Everyone from Jerry West to Mark Warkentein have been mentioned in the search.

Sources say that Pritchard is expecting to be fired after the draft is over, but has decided that if he's going to be let go, he wants to leave with a bang.
