In a stunning result that likely will raise questions about the enshrinement process for the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, Indiana Pacers star guard Reggie Miller failed to make the list of finalists for the 2011 induction class, sources told Yahoo! Sports.

I don't think Reginald should be in the Hall of Fame, but this isn't an impressive list of candidates.

I can see the argument that he isn't a first ballot HOFer or even not a HOFer at all.
But there is no way he should be left off the ballot!

He should be on the ballot, but I can easily make the argument that the players who did get nominated were more accomplished than Reginald.

John Hollinger pointed out this morning that the HOF has enshrined ten NBA coaches and if Tara VanDerveer gets in this year there will be ten womens' college coaches as well.
That's wrong on so many levels, IMO. The NBA is much older, much more competitive and, frankly, much more important.
What is this process?
Honestly, Reggie has an annoying personality and is a tough listen as a game analyst. That's why I think he's off the ballot.
I don't like him either, but if I had a vote, he's in. He's got a lot of good peripheral stats and was the best player on a team that made six conference finals. He's also the best player in the history of his organization - an icon. His teammates will go to bat for him, too. His overall game had a lot of holes, but the accomplishments are there.

Reggie was a great player, but he was never one of the absolute best. I don't think the accolades are there. I think the Hall should be for the absolute best players, and I don't think Reggie ever played at that level. He was a great shooter and he was clutch (although I think some of that is tainted because so many of his moments came against the Knicks), but he was a borderline All-Star. He was never a top 10 player. He was a 5 time All-Star and he made the All-NBA 3rd Team three times. He's an 18, 3, and 3 guy. He doesn't have the career numbers and he wasn't good enough at his peak. He played at a high level for a long, long time, and that's a great accomplishment in itself, but I don't think that's enough of an accomplishment to get him in the HOF.

And there are both sides of the argument.
But either way, he's definitely someone that should be available to vote for this year.

Is Reginald even more deserving than Mitch Richmond?
Mitch was a 6 time All-Star. He made the All-NBA Second Team three times (while Reginald was making the third team) and the All-NBA Third Team twice. He is one of only seven players to average over 21ppg in each of his first ten seasons in the NBA. He has an Olympic Gold Medal (and a Bronze one), was Rookie of the Year, and won All-Star Game MVP (not that that means anything). He also won a championship, but that doesn't really count.

Reggie was the most efficient guard in history. For a scorer who didn't take pressure off of himself by also being the primary passer on his team? That's insane.
http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... _by=ts_pctHe lead the league in ORtg 4 times and TS% twice. As a guard. Again, that's amazing for a scorer.
I have no problem putting him in the hall. I think it's very cloes.

Did you see Mitch Richmond at the celebrity game yesterday? He looks like he ate Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf.

Here's who I'd put in out of the "borderline" group - in order of most to least deserving.
1. Kukoc
2. Sabonis
3. Rodman
4. Miller
Chris Mullin is a no for his NBA career alone, but I remember how huge he was in college and he was a Dream Teamer. Verrrrrrrrry close. I'm leaning towards no.
I wouldn't put any of the others in.
