He is a statistical wonder, but the Wolves can't afford to give him the "max"...not at 15-49. Now if the Wolves can improve as a group next year and K-Love improves even more; its a no brainer. But until then, he's got to prevent these types of mistakes:

Love 23pts 17rebs 5assists tonight. He now owns the record for most consecutive double doubles with 51.
Thats where I will end my thoughts in this thread.

...and they still lost.
(even though it was against the Mavs).
Kahn will convince Love that Minny can't afford to pay him the "max".

Love will always need a defensive minded C to play next to and at that point it becomes unaffordable for a small market team to invest 30 mill in 2 players.

Putting up pretty stats on a horrible team doesn't automatically mean you deserve a huge payday.
I'm a big fan of the Lovemaker, but c'mon, if he was THAT good, the team would have won more than 15 games so far this season.
This reminds me of when Ralph Kiner asked for a raise on a last place team and Branch Rickey told him (paraphrase) "We finished last with you, we can finish last without you."

So if Humpz manage to roll a streak of 51 straight double doubles, does that make him great?
It's a great achievement, fine and well earned however it doesn't really say He's a very good player. Give me LMA over Love anyday.... Love isn't a max player, he doesn't win games for his team.

I like Love, but for all the people saying he is worth the max ask yourselves this one question: can you give him the ball at the end of the game and ask him to win it?
And I don't mean with the frequency or type of play you would with a wing who can create his own shot, but with the frequency you'd give it to an A-list big man like Duncan, Gasol, or Stoudemire.

No, because his team isn't in a position to win the game.

This guy has done an incredible, amazing job of maximizing his talent and becoming the best player he could become.
So of course people complain and cut him down because he's not someone else and isn't doing the things he can't do.
He's not worth a max contract, but I'd rather overpay this guy than pay some GO NETS!!! who has skills but never develops them or someone who has no extraordinary talents to even develop.

Cut him down? He is David Lee, David Lee got paid big time and Love will too.
Doesnt make him an elite player
"First I got to get big like Dwight Howard, Im gonna do that"
"We also have Anthony Morrow he’s one of the best for three-point throws. It’s very important for our team. "

I think Love is much more naturally talented and more skilled than Lee, but the reasons for their inflated stats are similar and valid.
Lee isn't worth his contract because the team he plays for didn't have a plan to get the most out of him. If Love goes to a team like that, the same thing will happen.
Guys like this don't fit everywhere. If you want your money's worth, don't expect anything more out of him than what he's already demonstrated he is very, very good at.

I still honestly believe most GM's would take Brook Lopez over Love at this point and I think that really says something taking Love's monster stats and Lopez' regression into account.
