Even with Blake they shouldn't be much competition when fighting for free agents.

The Clippers have a chance to get something special going with Griffin, Gordon and Kaman...but they'll never get there cus of the owner. What a joke.

That was great of the players to do. Kind of surprising to see Maggette on that list, but I can see it. I tip my hat to all those guys, that showed great character.
Screw Sterling. Scumbag.

It's astounding to me that a billionaire would rather see a man die than spend 70 grand.

Here's something I thought about...let's say you're a pretty high level employee at a large company (department VP, director, etc) and your insurance refuses to pay for a surgery of this magnitude...do you think your employer would find a way for you to get your surgery taken care of?

If your employer's a billionaire, and a man's life is on the line, then yes, I believe he would.

Many large companies self-insure. The insurance companies act more like an administrator with the company actually paying the bills. So in the end any claim appeals are the final decision of the employer, not the insurance company.
The way this story reads it sounds like the Clippers self-insure and they had a loop hole that allowed them to deny the claim and they stuck with the denial rather than waive it.
