The All Prospects Rest of the Season Game Thread
Re: The All Prospects Rest of the Season Game Thread
So, the list is out.
Well, it's now time to panic, this is looking like quite the weak draft after pick 20.
A lot of mid to late first round guys pulled out.
Looking like the type of draft you take a Euro in and stash him if no one interesting free falls or you can't trade the picks for a solid player.

Yeah, not looking very good right now for us at that spot.
I would probably root for Harper or Lighty.
Would like to see this Miyombo character fall to us, I hear REAL good things about him.

I haven't seen a ton of Harper, but I'm not especially feeling him.
He seems like at best he'll be a 3 point specialist in the NBA.
Reminds me of Donte Greene and I don't know he'll be as good as a current Donte, who is a fringe NBA player.
Lighty I could get behind 100%.

Keep dreaming. He won't even come close to our pick.

Nothing wrong with that... we're picking at 27 in a weak draft, one dimensional players are the most realistic options for us.
A 3 pt specialist in what looks like to be a PF isn't bad IMO, he could be the Ryan Anderson that we never held on to!
Harper and Green are 2 differ players IMO. Donte is a legit 3 and can play the 2 where Harper is borderline 3 but stretch/tweener 4 in the Pro IMO.
Plus Harper does have a good shot at 6'10, can move, isn't a stiff and shown a good step or 2 with the ball(from games i've seen)

Trading our pick is turning out to be a wonderful decision Billy King !!!

BK didn't have a choice. Besides, even the high picks aren't good outside of Irving/Derrick Williams. You guys do know the Clippers traded their lotto pick and Baron Davis for Mo Williams and Jamario Moon.
Nets need to trade up anyway IMO. Chris Singleton might be the most realistic option...Bruce Bowen v2.

I don't know, he just seems incredibly low BBIQ a lot of the time.
If I'm trading up, I'm going with Klay Thompson.
Lakers pick, 2012 pick returned, $3 million cash, absorb Brad Miller for the 14th...

Re: The All Prospects Rest of the Season Game Thread
Justin Harper being consider as a SF in the next level? a 6'10 SF.... I know Harper has a decent handle and ball control but interesting to say the least.
Harper would be my preferred selection around our pick.
The Bertins kid, i hear/read he can shoot the ball, a "plus" in my book, however, looking at him physically, eh no?

I was saying Harper should be able to play night in night out small forward towards the end of the college season when I first watched him play.
I'm still not sold on him being anymore then a specialist, but at 27th, there are a lot worse ways to go with a pick then a super high upside unknown with the fallback of a situational bench guy, such as a terrible pick like Kyle Singler or a backup point guard...

Re: The All Prospects Rest of the Season Game Thread
Harper would be a Rashard Lewis type SF, just not a consistent shot like Lewis(yet)....
But even so, at 27, we're not getting a real starter(chances are very slim, in a weak draft especially), so what's the worse? we get a solid bench player/rotational guy. It would a makeup for the RA type player that we lost.
I hope we dont go PG.... we have like 10 of them lol. Dwill(who rarely sits out extended minutes from what i've seen), Farmar, Uzoh, Sasha(if resign),Gaines whom we just signed then IF we get Mayo then it's already covered.
I would target Lighty for our 2nd choice unless a real good looking shot blocking big drops.

I'll hope Chris Singleton and or Kenneth Faried drops to our pick but not likely. Malcolm Lee and Marshon Brooks very promising too.

Or we can just move up to get Faried. Just a thought.

I suggested that before and numerous times I've seen people say theres not point in moving up in a weak draft. But with Proky's money I doubt it'd be a problem and I'd take a chance at Faried's athleticism and lack of any real offense. Its better imo than taking Harper and hoping that he is fast enough and is efficient to play SF or strong enough to play PF.
Besides Damion James is a legit backup aside from being a bit injury prone the last quarter of the season his defense is great and his offense is getting there.
Our bench should look like this though
McRoberts
Faried
James
Morrow
Gaines

I would take the following big men over Faried without thinking twice:
Tristan Thompson
Keith Benson
Jordan Williams
JaJuan Johnson

Obviously who wouldn't take Tristan Thompson over Faried, but I really don't see why we would want JaJuan Johnson who is a tweener and doesn't have much range or enough strength. Jordan Williams I'll have to reconsider and Jordan Williams I'll pass on him.

Re: The All Prospects Rest of the Season Game Thread
I have a feeling people are going to be very disappointed with Faried in the NBA.
I've gotten to see a bunch of his games between the NCAA's and the end of this season and with the exception of rebounding and hustle, his game is going to be hard to translate to the pros to the extent he's a liability out there for more then 3 or 4, few minute spurts a game.
On a side note, warming up to Harper the more I have been able to see of him.
Still haven't seen a ton, but a friend had a couple of his tourney games DVR'd and we watched them again.
I'm not in love with him, but I'm thinking more and more that although it's rare for a guy like him that suddenly blew up his senior year to really succeed, that I could see him being an above average starter a few years down the road and an instant contributor for maybe 15mpg.
There's a lot that annoys me watching him, but it's not physical stuff, it's all mental, so that gives me promise, although not having really seen him before this year I don't know if these are all long time habits.
The thing I said about him towards the end of the season when I first really paid him any mind and watched him was, he should be able to guard small forwards in the NBA.
He's not necessarily an ideal NBA small forward, but his lateral quicks and recovery speed should more or less be efficient to do it on a nightly basis.
