Syracuse Orange: New Era

With the college basketball season creeping closer and closer, Syracuse basketball is entering a new era of play. Armed with little to no NBA talent, Jim Boeheim will have his hands full putting together a winning roster for 2010.

It started off when sophomore Jonny Flynn declared for the NBA draft as he was extraordinary for the Orange the past season as he helped them start off undefeated and then make it to the NCAA Tournament.

The Orange also lost Paul Harris and Eric Devendorf as they entered this year’s draft but were not as lucky as Flynn as both went undrafted while Flynn was picked up early by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Good, solid article. Btw...guess who helps run King of Kings, and developed the website? ;)

Don't forget about Wes Johnson, the transfer from...I believe it's University of Idaho?

Nope, Iowa.

Jim Boeheim's giddy over this kid, and Jonny's said that Wes is like a "pogo stick".

I believe he's a small forward - I'd expect him to start, along with Rautins and Triche (whom Boeheim has said will get the starting point guard position).

His stats dropped as a Sophomore, but I'm thinking he'll be an important piece the next couple of years.

By the way, have you heard about CJ Fair? I guess he's slotted to come in 2010. 2010's looking to be good - there's a ton of guys Syracuse is in the running for, according to this site: http://blogs.dailyorange.com/hoops/2009 ... part-deux/

I'm liking the thought of Knight, Smith, and Harris.

I love it. I hope Wes, Andy, Kris, Brandon, Arinze, Rick...even Scoop all prove the doubters wrong. They're a strange group, maybe not the best, but they could pull up some real upsets.

It seems like we've got more size with this group, I like that - seems like we're going from an offensive group to a defensive group.
