Without a new Front Office, the Nets will continue to suck

aka, the official fan club of Fire Rod and Fire Kiki.

Giving these two a deep pocket owner is just going to lead to grandiose acts of incompetence generally reserved for the Oakland Raiders and the Daniel Snyder owned Washington Redskins

Why assume so, as long as we have Rod I'm sure he will spend the money wisely. I would feel that way if KiKi was the main guy in town.

I have zero confidence in Thorn. He has proven himself to be incompetent. Rod has to go in order for this franchise to move forward.

In my opinion I think it's only fair to give Rod the chance to complete the rebuilding job he started.

i appreciate the good things that thorn has done for the franchise, but even if he was twice the GM that he is, it would still be good to groom a successor, right? i mean, he's coming up on 69 years old and looks physically worn out. or maybe i'm just being unfair. *shrug*

also, do we know for a fact that vandeweigh is a bad GM or would make a bad future GM? his coaching ability has about zero relationship to his GM abilities, i would think. he seemed to do a pretty good job at denver, after all...

if there was a slam-dunk successor to replace vandy, i could see it. but who's actually on the horizon? anyone?

I dont think it's fair to hold someone's past job against them, I would assume KiKi learned from his mistakes from Denver and I am sure Rod has thought him some things, and I am sure Ki Ki could do a fine job if he is given the job, and besides Ki Ki wasn't THAT bad in Denver.

There is something to be said from learning from one's mistakes. That said, I rather have one guy learning from his mistakes than two guys learning.

Give me Thorn in a mentor type role (he's old enough to go with that) and give me a new guy. The new guy can lean on Thorn and learn from his mistakes rather than make new ones himself, but new guy runs the show.

I assume Ki Ki is going to eventually takeover and Rod is grooming him now?

This guy is given too many excuses.

He had a championship level player and he blew it. All the team needed was a shooter. In a league where shooters are seemingly everywhere, he couldn't get a single decent one.

He blows practically every draft pick and his free agent pickups have been terrible.

The team has gotten progressively worse each season and is now so bad that it is the worst team of all time. That is not excusable under any circumstance!

He made a few good deals and a few over-rated ones. That is not enough. He needs to go.

How many great GM's made mistakes in the past whether it's drafting or signing free agents? Rod is no different, he has done more good than bad for this franchise, and not to mention Ratner has limited what he could do in terms of making moves.

Why would any Nets fan be happy about this plan?

Kiki was an incompetent GM in Denver and Rod has been more bad than good. Congratulate both of them for successfully blowing up the Nets and creating the potential for a lot of cap space. However, this franchise and we fans deserve to have someone competent creating the 2010-2011 roster.

For everyone that thinks Rod has the vision necessary for remaking this team into a championship level team, remember that he was convinced SAR and Jeff McInnis were the missing pieces.

This is not true. He knew the financial constraints he was forced to work under with Ratner owning the team and he mismanaged the assets he had. There was a point in time where Vince could have been traded and not been a pure salary dump.

I am sure Rod will have more of a greenlight to make the moves they want the team to make, in the last few years they made moves for the purpose of cap relief. The reason they didn't trade Vince earlier was because they felt they could win a ring with Vince, and Ratner wanted to keep him around because he felt he is a star that could put fans in seats.

Ki Ki did a good rebuilding that team in his first two years on the team.

I think some people are going to be disappointed...if they think Thorn is going anywhere.

We can all say what we want, but the indications are that at least Thorn returns and Kiki may as well. Lot of blame to go around, but at this point, I have seen nothing to indicate Prokhorov is going to fire Thorn. The reverse is true. As for who wanted to keep Carter and who wanted to dump him...and when...I don't think we know what happened and may never know.

All I know is that what's past is basically over.

No he didn't. He did a good job blowing up the team and got lucky that Dumars took Darko.

No one that drafts Skita over Amare did a good job rebuilding

Agreed 100% sir

I have been saying for awhile now that both Thorn and Kiki need to be shown the door this summer. Thorn's bright idea of putting that idiot in as coach has blown up in his face. We don't need either of them here going forward.

If you didn't have the cash to get a legit head coach, promote someone with some clue about coaching and teaching talent the right way to play. Don't just bring in some jerk off from the front office who has an agenda to make sure that his pet gets enough touches. GO NETS!!! both of them
13-69, easily.

-Mr. Dollar Bills prediction back in June, as seen in the "What do you think the nets record will be" Thread. 10 wins and you can call me Nostradamous. I also read palms and predict lottery numbers.

Rod didnt build a finals team?

These guys dont grow on trees. Id give him another go w/ a good owner.

Kikis proven nothing, and these rumors of Diaw and Gay are troubling. Let alone the Yi/RA mess and the fact he and hiss boss arent on the same page
"First I got to get big like Dwight Howard, Im gonna do that"

"We also have Anthony Morrow he’s one of the best for three-point throws. It’s very important for our team. "

Players that you can build a championship team around don't punch their wife and get shipped out of town everyday.

I think it's likely we have no idea what Prokhorov is thinking. You don't become a billionaire natural resources oligarch by telling everyone in sight what your plans for the future are. He may not be particularly discrete in his "private" life, but professionally I get the impression he tends to play it close to the vest.

I think it's very hard to predict what he'll do when he comes in. My guess is that it hasn't been decided one way or another yet - I'm sure staff interviews and the available market of potential GMs will matter quite a bit.
