http://hoopshype.com/columns/rosen/the-coaching-rankings
As per Charley Rosen. The List-
1.Greg Popovich (San Antonio)
2. Tom Thibodeau (Chicago)
3. Doc Rivers (Boston)
4. Rick Carlisle (Dallas)
5. George Karl (Denver)
6. Rick Adelman (Minnesota)
7. Doug Collins (Philadelphia)
8. Erik Spoelstra (Miami)
9. Scott Skiles (Milwaukee)
10. Avery Johnson (Brooklyn): Has controlled his habitual manic intensity that alienates his players. Leads the league in assistants with seven. Will be blamed when Nets fail to achieve the unreachable expectations established by the local media.
11. Lawrence Frank (Detroit) Works as hard as any of his peers. Feisty. Master of strategy. Deserves a better position than coaching the nowhere Pistons.
12. Lionell Hollins (Memphis)
13. Keith Smart (Sacramento)
14. Frank Vogel (Indiana)
15. Tyrone Corbin (Utah)
16. Monty Williams (New Orleans)
17. Scotty Brooks (Oklahoma City)
18. Mike Woodson (New York Knicks)
19. Terry Stotts (Portland)
20. Dwane Casey (Toronto)
21. Kevin McHale (Houston)
22. Mike Brown (LA Lakers)
23.Byron Scott (Cleveland): Arrogant. Takes too much credit for his part as a player in Lakers’ dynasty. Had success in New Jersey only because Jason Kidd made most of the on-court decisions.
24. Larry Drew (Atlanta)
25. Vinny Del Negro (LA Clippers)
26. Alvin Gentry (Phoenix)
27. Randy Wittman (Washington)
28. Mark Jackson (Golden State): Confused. Inept. Should have put in his time learning his craft as an assistant coach.
29. Jacque Vaughn (Orlando)
30. Mike Dunlap (Charlotte)

I think it's safe to say that most people on this site disagree, but only time will tell. We'll find out for sure this year.

Well I agree with three of the four blurbs from Rosen. I really don't like it when I agree with something Rosen opines.

Phil's rankings look pretty good. Just switch Avery with Mike Dunlap and it's not too far off.

I wouldn't put Avery or Rivers in the top 10. Yuck.

I don't think we can judge Avery yet. I don't know how I feel about last year with Brook getting hurt and Gerald Wallace not coming til the end of the season but the year before that the team SUCKED. It had no talent.
Also, how can you say you agree with all his other comments but not the Avery one?
PS: Don't forget Jaqcue Vaughn has Nets ties too.

I have zero faith in Avery. I think he sucks. He has no clue how to put players in the best position to succeed. I am not a fan of the Nets' entire coaching staff.
I hope they wake up and somehow improve. Maybe with all the veteran players things will come together and Avery can be more of a manager and not an x and o guy or a teacher.
